  Today was my first day working there and she passes a very hot plate to go to a customer (while wearing a hot mitt). When I grabbed the plate I recoiled. She said to me "just grab it. Go burn yourself." I walked out right then. What sort of a manager would be willing to actually hurt one of there team mates on the job? I don't know about you but work employee work conditions matter to me. Don't support abusive labor practices.

  This is one of the best small restaurants in Aiken where there are quite a few to choose from.
  
  The food is always expertly prepared and imaginatively presented by, in our experience, gracious and professional staff.
  
  We're eating there again tonight, probably our 8th or 9th time in the past few years.

  First, the owner and chef, Linda, is an unfriendly and rude woman. Second, we felt a lack of respect and overt racism. I am white and my companion was a young man of color. The server eyes practically lept out of her head when we walked in. There were at least 10 empty tables in this establishment yet she had to ask Linda if we could be seated, even though she had just said we did not need reservations. Not long after we ordered, Linda came out, looked straight at my friend, telling him that she didn't want to make the order as requested because it would not be good. I told her I was the one with a special request, yet at first she did not turn look at me and kept talking to my companion. She was not very kind about it and made it clear she would not do what was asked so I said okay and took the suggestion she made. My friend never got a straight answer about how it was supposed to be served.The ravioli was good but her suggestion of chicken sausage was awful. It was overcooked and chewy. For that much money the serving was ridiculously small. When it was time to pay, my friend took the check. He spent a few minutes checking something on his phone. No biggie, right? The server stood a few feet from the table staring at him the entire time. That was so offensive. After I got home I realized I forgot my umbrella and I called to ask if I could pick it up the next day. I was told it would be left on the front porch for me to pick up anytime. After our experience that night, I heard, 'I do not want you back in my restaurant'. We had read reviews before we went and 2 out of 3 were good. The 3rd stated that they dealt with racism and sexism. We went anyway as one bad review may or may not be the truth....well, it absolutely was the truth and neither one of us will ever set foot in her place again. I have told other people know how we were treated and two have told me about their bad experiences and of being treated rudely. Thank goodness, there are many other places to eat in Aiken!
